Did you know that bubble gum was invented in Pennsylvania, Kool Aid was created in Nebraska and the Otis elevator in Vermont? Students at The Bolles School do. Third-graders at the San Jose school learned these and other facts while staging their annual play. "All the plays reflect something they are learning in the classroom at the time," said Joh […]

Mandarin Newsline

If you haven’t had a chance to read the Mandarin newspaper you should give it a chance. The are online as well at: www.mandarinnewsline.com The newspaper is free and is delivered to addresses in 32223 and 32258. They now have a digital edition of the newspaper online that is a great idea. it is an exact duplicate of newspaper. Going green is a great idea and if you don’t live within these two zip codes you can still read about what is happening in the Mandarin Area. The newspaper has quite a few advertisements within the pages but the stories are quite interesting and they do keep you appraised on whats going on. This month’s issue features a write up of the new Principal at Mandarin High School, Loretto Elementary’s Student Council and Mandarin Community Club meetings coming up next month.

For me the most interesting article is “The Sheriff Reports” about an online service being offered by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office. The article is on page 6 of the newspaper. Check out their website at: www.jaxsheriff.org You can report crimes, view crime news, and much more. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is meeting a need for all citizens in the Jacksonville Area to have online access to the police and their services.

We have also updated the Retirement Communities page with information about the Jacksonville Mandarin Area Nursing Homes. Go to that page for a Nursing Homes listing and where to get more information about their reports by the State of Florida and the Agency for Healthcare Administration.
